Motorola Edge 20 Lite, Edge 20 and Edge 20 Pro are official: the balance between price and features seems to be centred; this is how they are made.
Motorola unveiled the new Edge 20 range. It consists of a smartphone capable of keeping the price relatively low despite the technical characteristics more than satisfactory for an unpretentious user, Motorola Edge 20 Lite, and the higher-end and higher-priced Motorola Edge 20 and Edge 20 Pro products.
It isn’t easy to believe these last two are top of the range, not so much for the technical characteristics that are excellent on both. The winged company’s price has managed to contain within limits that many consider acceptable for the purchase of a smartphone—the new mid-high range.
In short, that of the Motorola Edge 20 is a bet with a considerable probability of success because, unless there are special needs, they potentially have all the credentials to convince everyone in their respective price ranges. The three, however, have some interesting elements in common: above all, there is a 6.67-inch OLED display with at least 90 Hz, a fingerprint reader on the side, a primary camera with the same (surprising) 108-megapixel resolution and a fast charge at 30 watts.
The previous Motorola Edge / Edge + range, on the other hand, despite having excellent technical characteristics, had not convinced much for the price, considered by most to be excessive. Motorola appears to have understood the lesson and have adjusted prices down.
Motorola Edge 20 Lite, Technical Characteristics
Motorola Edge 20 Lite deserves to be treated individually, if only because presumably it will be the most popular product in Italy and beyond. It marries the MediaTek Dimensity 720 chip made at 7 nanometers with a maximum frequency of 2 GHz and support for 5G networks; it offers 6 or 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory of the UFS 2.1 type, and a 6.67-inch Full OLED display HD + with a maximum refresh rate of 90 Hz.
There are three rear cameras: a primary 108 megapixel, an ultra-wide 8 megapixel, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor; on the front, there is instead a 32-megapixel sensor for selfies. The mono audio has seen the participation of Waves, while the battery is from 5,000 mAh with support for fast charging at 30 watts. Dimensions of 165.89 x 76 x 8.25 mm for 185 grams of weight. The operating system is Android 11.
Motorola Edge 20 And Edge 20 Pro, Technical Characteristics
Ford Edge 20 Motorola has chosen the Snapdragon 778G from the Qualcomm price list, a medium-high-end chip made at 6 nanometers. At the same time, for Edge 20 Pro, Choice fell on the Snapdragon 870, a chip built at 7 nanometers representing an evolution of the top of the range for the 2020 Snapdragon 865. Display (almost) identical on both: a 6.67-inch OLED panel (pOLED on Edge 20 Pro) with a refresh rate of 144 Hz.
In terms of memories, Motorola Edge 20 allows you to choose between 6 or 8 GB of RAM and between 128 or 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage space, while Edge 20 Pro leaves no choice: 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of space storage UFS 3.1. Both rely on a 108-megapixel primary sensor, 16 megapixels ultra-wide, while the third camera is a 5MP telephoto lens on both with 5x optical zoom on Edge 20 Pro, 3x on Edge 20. On both cameras for selfies, it is 32 MP.
As on the Edge 20 Lite, the system audio is mono but benefits from the knowledge of Waves, the fingerprint reader is on the side, while the battery has a capacity of 4,500 mAh on the Edge 20 Pro and 4,000 mAh on the Edge 20. Dimensions of 163, 3 x 76.1 x 7.9 mm and weight of 185 grams for Edge 20 Pro, of 163 x 76 x 6.99 mm and 163 grams for Edge 20.
Range, Availability And Prices
The chip shortage has also impacted Motorola, so the three Edge 20s will arrive between the end of August and the beginning of September. Unlike availability, the list prices are instead precise :
- Motorola Edge 20 Lite starts at € 379.90 for the 6 + 128 GB variant;
- Motorola Edge 20 from € 449.90 for the 6 + 128 GB;
- Motorola Edge 20 Pro has a single variant from 12 + 256 GB proposed at 699.90 euros.
