The new firmware brings the router new functions, more security as well as additional WLAN and Internet speed. For this reason, you will find corresponding settings in every router menu: This allows firmware updates to be installed or at least downloaded automatically. At the very least, every router should notify you with a message that there is a new firmware version. However, you will not see a suitable menu entry for your Fritzbox: You can usually install new firmware using the user interface under “System -> Update.” Unfortunately, your router lacks this option.
