Motorola’s new flagship has appeared on the Google Play Console, confirming its European debut, possibly at next week’s Mobile World Congress, is imminent.
Motorola’s flagship model for 2023, the Motorola Edge 40 Pro, now seems ready for its debut in Europe. Further confirmation comes from Google Play Console, the page dedicated to developers which lists the Android devices with which the app must be compatible. On display, complete with photos, some technical specifications are also revealed on the page, which, as is well known, follow those of the Motorola Moto X40 launched in China at the end of 2022. The only thing yet to be sure about Edge 40 Pro / Moto X40 is when exactly Motorola will throw it in Europe. But it’s easy to guess from the appearance on the Google Play Console: at the end of the month’s next Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
From the datasheet published on Google Play Console, we have confirmation that Motorola Edge 40 Pro will be equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, the top processor the American manufacturer has on its list, which is present on most Android flagships. Again the card that appeared on the Google Play Console tells us that the smartphone will be offered with 12 GB of RAM, but predictably there will also be a version with 8 GB and one with 16 GB.
As for the display, the card speaks of a resolution of 1,080×2,400 pixels (FHD+), while this screen’s density of pixels per inch (ppi) stands at 400. The size of this display is not mentioned, but we know it will be 6.7 inches. We also know it will be an OLED screen, protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass Victus glass.
As mentioned, the rest of the specifications should follow those of the Chinese Moto X40. Barring sensational surprises, the Motorola Edge 40 will be provided with a storage space which, depending on the model, will be 128, 256, or 512 GB of the UFS 4.0 type (UFS 3.1 in the smallest size).
The respectable photographic sector provides for the presence of a 1-inch 50 MP primary sensor with optical image stabilization. This is accompanied by a 50 MP ultra wide-angle sensor with an autofocus function up to 2.5 cm away. There is also a Sony IMX663 branded 12MP 2x optical zoom telephoto lens. On the front, inside the classic hole in the center of the display, there is a 60 MP sensor.
The 4,600 mAh battery is compatible with 125W fast wired charging, while the wireless one stops at 15W and the reverse at 5W.
As already widely said, Lenovo will officially present the new Motorola Edge 40 Pro during the Mobile World Congress. However, some think that the manufacturer wants to offer its flagship as an ad hoc event to not end up in the group of other brands that will present the new smartphones at the MWC. In this case, we are talking about a launch that is still possible, i.e., in March 2023.
Obviously, for an official price, you have to wait for the launch but to get an idea, remember that the previous Motorola Edge 30 Pro was launched at the end of February for 849 euros.
