Official Huawei P50 And P50 Pro: They Do Not Have 5G

All the rumors about Huawei P50 and P50 Pro have turned out to be correct: the two new top of the Chinese range do not have 5G, but they have an excellent photographic sector.

The world leader in 5G radio transmission systems has just presented its new top-of-the-range smartphone, and it is a 4G phone. It seems absurd, but that’s it: Huawei P50 and P50 Pro are finally official, and neither of them is equipped with 5G connectivity.

These devices, just presented for the Chinese market, will later also arrive in Europe and the rest of the world. However, there will be a slight delay since all the competitors have already presented their top-of-the-range 2021. Huawei P50 and P50 Pro will try to make up for the delay and lack of 5G with an excellent photographic sector, but they can only turn to a niche market.

Therefore, the American maneuver, which began with Donald Trump’s ban, comes to fruition: Huawei cannot offer its users what all the others present. Even the “smooth “P50, equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC, has been “neutered” to provide only 4G.

Huawei P50: Features And Price

Huawei P50 is a smartphone with a 6.5-inch OLED display, FHD + resolution, and a mid-range refresh rate: 90 Hz. It has 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage space (expandable with Nano Memory Card). The chip used is the 4G version of the Snapdragon 888.

The rear photographic sector, also developed this year in collaboration with Leica, is remarkable:

  • 50 MP main sensor, f / 1.8
  • 40MP ultra-wide sensor, f / 1.6
  • 12MP zoom, f / 3.2 with optical stabilization

The front camera is 13 MP. The battery is 4,100 mAh, with fast charging at 66 Watts. Huawei P50 will be sold in China with HarmonyOS 2.0 at the starting price of around 580 euros at current exchange rates.

Huawei P50 Pro: Features And Price

Huawei P50 Pro instead mounts a 6.6-inch curved display, OLED, with FHD + resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate. The RAM will be 8 or 12 GB, while the storage space will be 128, 256, or 512 GB, also in this case expandable. The chip used in this model is the proprietary Kirin 9000 manufactured by Huawei HiSilicon.

Even better than that of the P50 is the rear photographic sector, again in collaboration with Leica:

  • 50 MP main sensor, f / 1.8
  • 13MP ultra-wide sensor, f / 2.2
  • 64MP zoom (3.5X optical, up to 100X digital), f / 3.5 with optical stabilization
  • 40 MP, f / 1.6 B&W sensor

The front camera is 13 MP. The battery is 4,360 mAh, with fast charging at 66 Watts wired and 50 Watts wireless. Huawei P50 Pro will be sold in China with HarmonyOS 2.0 at the starting price of around 780 euros at the current exchange rate.
