From his “first” with Pocophone F1 in 2018, the company founded by Xiaomi has become known model after model for the high quality of its products for money. Not for anything except the Shortly M3 Pro, an Android smartphone that currently is the one that offers support for 5G networks at the lowest price ever.
Low cost yes, but of quality. Poco M3 Pro is the result of a successful compromise, at least looking at the technical specifications card. Then, as we know, the success or failure of a product depends on many other factors including the design, which is subjective but it certainly cannot be said that Poco M3 Pro lacks personality.
Not on the front section, which forces a bit all manufacturers to standardized solutions, which in the case of the newborn Poco translate into a display interrupted only by the central hole that houses the selfie camera and surrounded by abundant frames only on the lower side. The personality is on the back, where the yellow color stands out of the three available (black and blue) and the rectangle containing the three cameras with the company logo.
To power Poco M3 Pro there is an SoC (System on a Chip) produced by MediaTek, the Density 700 built at 7 nanometers with an integrated 5G modem. It is a platform with an octa-core CPU that can reach 2.2 GHz of maximum frequency and Mali-G57 GPU, flanked by 4 or 6 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 64 or 128 GB of UFS 2.2 storage, however expandable via microSD.
The display 6.5-inch diagonal LCD technology IPS + Full HD resolution (2,400 x 1,080 pixels) and, more importantly, a refresh rate that can go up to 90 Hz. It can do that because you decide it is a software: to always hit the ideal compromise between consumption and visual fluidity there is what has been called DynamicSwitch, a function that can set the refresh rate to 90, 60, 50, or 30 Hz depending on the circumstances without the user notices nothing – or at least that’s the promise.
On the camera side, as anticipated above, on Poco M3 Pro there is a sensor in the 8-megapixel display for self-portraits and three sensors on the rear: the main 48-megapixel f / 1.79, a 2-megapixel f / 2.4 macro, and finally one of depth always 2-megapixel f / 2.4. “Standard” connectivity with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, etc., with the exceptions of 5G support with Dual Standby, NFC, and input for the 3.5 mm audio jack.
The battery is quite large: 5,000 mAh with fast charging up to 18 watts, a capacity that according to Poco could even be enough for two days of use. The user interface is the MIUI 12 for Poco based on Android 11. Finally, the dimensions are abundant, even if on closer inspection Poco M3 Pro is also smaller and lighter than many other peers: 161.81 x 75.34 x 8, 92 mm with a weight of 190 grams.
Poco M3 Pro is available for purchase immediately on the official p o .co website at the price of 199.90 euros for the variant from 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal memory or 229.90 euros for the 6 + 128 one. GB. Three colors: Yellow, Power Black, and Cool Blue.
The Poco M3 Pro launch promotion is interesting. Anyone who buys one by May 26 will be able to take advantage of super-prices: € 159.90 for the first version, € 199.90 for the second.
