Sony’s new top-of-the-range Smart TV promises much more brightness and audio-video quality at the highest levels, but the price will be for a few.
It is not yet available for purchase, but the new top-of-the-range Sony Smart TV with QD-OLED technology can already be booked: the Sony A95L replaces it by surpassing its fluency for technical characteristics the current A95K. A model, the one already on sale, which is the dream of many amateurs.
Sony A95L even promises 200% more brightness than Sony A95K, and this promise, OLED means, is a solid and clear message: organic LED technology takes up the challenge launched by that Mini LED and has no intention of ceding the scepter of the top-of-the-range TV market.
The new Sony A95L Smart TV (trade name: Sony Bravia XR A95L) is produced in three diagonals: 55, 65, and 77 inches. The centerpiece of the new model is the 4K OLED panel at 120 Hz with XR Triluminos Max technology, a Quantum Dot layer that can increase the brightness of the pixels.
The natural, unique defect of OLED televisions is the lower brightness than LED ones: in the dark, they can be seen excellently; in the light, a lot less. Sony, however, claims to have solved the problem.
For the rest, we face a modern and uncompromising top-of-the-range Smart TV, IMAX Enhanced, Dolby Vision, and Netflix Adaptive Calibrated Mode certified.
The XR Cognitive Processor massively processes artificial intelligence algorithms to improve video and audio quality as much as possible, increase contrast, and reproduce rich yet realistic colors. The focus is to imitate the functioning of the human eye.
The 120 Hz refresh rate, HDMI 2.1 ports, VRR, ALLM, Auto HDR Tone Mapping, and Auto Genre Picture Mode technologies will delight gamers with Sony PlayStation 5 consoles.
The audio is played by actuators immersed in the screen. In practice, the display becomes a prominent speaker compatible with Dolby Atmos and DTS: X formats. Still, with Acoustic Center Sync technology, it is possible to synchronize the Sony Bravia XR A95L with the latest Sony soundbars to have an even better-performing audio system.
There is also the Bravia Cam camera for video calls, which is also used as a presence and brightness sensor to adjust some playback parameters automatically.
Finally, The operating system is Android TV with a Google TV interface; consequently, hundreds of apps of all kinds are available, in addition to the discounted streaming apps. Speaking of streaming, Bravia Core is available on this TV, a streaming platform for content optimized for Sony TVs, some of which are also in IMAX format.
The new Sony A95L Smart TV will be on sale “from the beginning of September” but is not there yet. Italy, however, is one of the markets where you can register on the Japanese company’s website to receive a message when the TV will be purchasable.
Sony has not revealed the price of this model, but it is logical to think that it will be higher than that of the previous generation (Sony A95K), which, at launch, cost 2,999 euros in the 55-inch version and 3,999 euros in the 65-inch version.
