Sony Xperia Pro-I is a dream smartphone for photography lovers, and now it has finally arrived in Europe. Unveiled at the end of October, the Japanese product embodies the best that Sony can offer today regarding photographic capabilities. For this reason, it also comes at a very high price.
The camera that the Asian designers have included on the Sony Xperia Pro-I is incredible: a “transplant” of the sensor of the Sony RX100 VII, the compact camera par excellence of Sony’s list, has been made. Xperia Pro-I is the first Android smartphone in the world to be able to boast a one-inch sensor, moreover embellished by the Zeiss optics, which in terms of lens quality is second to none, and by the variable aperture – f / 2.0 or f / 4.0. It gives the best compromise between definition and quantity of light reaching the sensor each time.
Alongside the colossal main sensor are two others with the same 12-megapixel resolution, an ultra-wide-angle, and a telephoto lens with 2x zoom. Videos can be recorded at 4K resolution at up to 120 frames per second. We know, however, that technical quality does not necessarily translate into high image quality if the software is not of a high standard.
So Sony Xperia Pro-I can rely on an interface further enriched with adjustments and settings compared to the previous model and capable of shooting in RAW, as well as a series of tricks that make it the ideal product for those who need it. To carry out the high-level shooting on the move.
Sony Xperia Pro-I has a physical shutter button, a hole for the straps (wrist or neck), and above all, an accessory dedicated to those who shoot many videos on the move. It is a 3.5-inch monitor in 720p that allows you to connect a handle and a microphone through the 3.5 audio jack; the smartphone instantly becomes a “real” camera through which to shoot and recover. Integrates a dedicated high-profile microphone
On a technical level, Sony Xperia Pro-I can only be a high-end smartphone. There is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 chip, 12GB of RAM and 512GB of expandable storage, a 6.5-inch HDR 120Hz OLED screen with Ultra HD 4K resolution (like TVs), certification against water and powder, a battery with 4,500 mAh with fast charging from 30 watts and wireless.
At launch, Sony announced that the Xperia Pro-I would be available in Europe starting in December, and it did. The Japanese camera phone is already present on Amazon in the countries where it will be distributed first: in France and the UK with availability from 2 December, in Germany from 7.
The price list is creepy, but a similar product could not be otherwise: 1,799 EUR, while the accessory monitor costs 199 euros. In all likelihood, it will arrive in Italy, but we have no information yet.
