What Happened To The Foldable Google Pixel?

All the latest rumours about Google’s expected first foldable smartphone, including when it could be officially launched

Among the many devices that were expected in the last Google event, the one from which the new Pixel 7 and 7 Pro came out, there was also the ” Pixel Fold ” or ” Pixel Notepad, “that is, the foldable Pixel, the first model of Google’s ” foldable ” smartphones. As we all know, this model was not among those on the list for the upcoming launch. This does not mean, however, that the model has been cancelled from Google’s plans.

Google Pixel: The Latest Rumours

If recently, reliable leaker Evan Blass said the foldable Pixel would be launched before the end of this year, now DSCC (Display Supply Chain Consultants) CEO Ross Young is of the opposite opinion. Young is convinced that the smartphone will not be launched this year but that the Mountain View giant will present its folding in the first quarter of 2023.

Additionally, Ross Young said Google would begin receiving panels to integrate into the Pixel Folds in January, while Indian online newspaper Gadgets 360 said the company could launch not one but two foldable devices.

But the rumours about the Pixel Notepad don’t end there. A developer recently identified the reference to a foldable device called Felix in the code of the beta version of Android 13 QPR1. The phone has three rear cameras: a Sony IMX787 primary sensor, a Sony IMX386 ultra-wide angle lens, and a Samsung S5K3J1 telephoto lens.

Google Pixel: What It Will Look Like

The other rumours that have emerged to date tell that Pixel Notepad (or Pixel Fold ) will have a design similar to that of the Oppo Find N. The smartphone is also expected to have a 5.8-inch external and 7.6-inch internal display.

As for the chip, the first folding of the Mountain View giant will almost certainly have a Google Tensor G2, the same chip as the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, associated with 12 GB of RAM.

Google Pixel: How Much Will It Cost?

The first folding phone of the American giant could arrive on the market at a price that is not cheap at all, like all folding ones on the other hand. The rumors speak of no less than 1,400 dollars.
